DDR German Shepherds

Meeting place for breeders and owners of East German Shepherds to talk about their dogs, litters and any other related topic. There are plenty of other boards for WGR, CZ, Show and Am-line dogs; this is for at least 50 percent DDR workingline dogs only.

Thanks, Cathy -
We'll be trying weekend after next at the UKC show again.
Will let you all know if he gets it done. He'll have four shows, and it's anyone's guess as to what will happen. I'm a bit hesitant to take Emma in the CH ring yet and risk her stealing his thunder Smile May have to keep her back until her Uncle Henry's done !! Wink

Finally, Henry completed his GRAND CHAMPION TITLE with the last two wins he needed this weekend. Out of four shows, Henry won 2 and Golf won 2. It was a long, hard weekend, but the outcome was quite rewarding. Henry is now in retirement from the show ring, so his kids and neices and nephews can win a few.

To get a Grand CH title, of course you must first have the Championship, which entails 3 COMPETITION wins (Best male or higher with competition) under three different judges.
For the Grand Ch you must additionally have 5 "Champion of Champion" wins over AT LEAST two other dogs in CH class. And when you're showing against some of the dogs I show against it's no simple feat. Henry had to beat the number 2 dog in the nation for a couple of these wins, and Golf for the rest of them. Some of the judges are still old-style and only look at black and red dogs, so we walked away several times with a Reserve CH of CH ribbon (otherwise known as a "shut up and go home ribbon") Wink Laughing

That is great! Congratulations!

Did you compete also on USA Siger shows under the SV rules?

Hi Carlos -
There are so very few of those SV-style shows around me, and with no help with the dogs, I can't travel any further than I can commute in a day. The only dog I've made a USA conformation and breed survey with so far has been Eik. That was last March, and they still have not returned his original paperwork to me. So I'm not entirely sure I want to go to any more and lose my dogs' original papers for a year to them.

He has too many broken teeth to grip a sleeve, so SchH is not an option for him.

No - it was not a matter of weak teeth. His teeth were absolutely awesome right up until he decided to try to escape a very thick, heavy welded wire enclosure. He didn't get out, but he tore out some toenails and broke off a LOT of his teeth trying to chew through the enclosure while I was at work (female in heat in the back yard at the time). $1200 worth of dental surgery later, I picked him up expecting to find his teeth capped, and still functional. Instead, all they had done was finle them all down and seal them. HELL, I could have done THAT with my dremel tool!
His sisters have super teeth as well - Herzi, Heidi and Lucy, as have his pups so far.
