DDR German Shepherds

Meeting place for breeders and owners of East German Shepherds to talk about their dogs, litters and any other related topic. There are plenty of other boards for WGR, CZ, Show and Am-line dogs; this is for at least 50 percent DDR workingline dogs only.

Your pup is just adorable. Trudy really produces great fur and nice heads.

Yes Trudy and I are going to have a talk about this Confused the fur part that is. They are adorable however and I love the temperaments drive and character. I am thinking we are going to breed her to Foenix and add a little Czech blood to her pups next time. Trudy has a very strong line for producing coats.

I say good stock coat, heavy undercoat. Some people see long coats when they are merely like Puck, Wotan, Strydor or my Phantom (Phanny). If I wanted a slick coat I would get a lab, malinois or a rottie etc. Look at the pictures of the DDR dogs from the DDR. They did not have slick, thin coats. Big pouffy ruff around the neck is proper and VERY masculine.

In my limited observations, diet has a HUGE effect on the undercoat especially. Where I live, there is no winter really. So, in some places that actually get a winter will see a more extreme difference on the thickness of the coat.

Don't pick on Trudi for doing a great job.

Hey, one of these days I will have a little fluffier dog myself. I think they are absolutly stunning. Julie just always insists on having one when I can not, under any circumstances even consider getting one.... Wink
But right now, I am imensly jealous!!!!

And it sounds like you guys had a wonderful time meeting and playing with babies.... Very Happy
