DDR German Shepherds

Meeting place for breeders and owners of East German Shepherds to talk about their dogs, litters and any other related topic. There are plenty of other boards for WGR, CZ, Show and Am-line dogs; this is for at least 50 percent DDR workingline dogs only.

Oh Tracy, thank you so much for the pictures (you've done a terrific job taking them) and for posting them on the board for me Smile After talking with you I had to repeat everything to my husband and then take Yana for a walk because she started bugging cats too much Twisted Evil

My husband hasn't changed his mind on the name Wolfgang so I guess that's the name!

But I'm back and will post more pics. I know how much everybody loves to see puppies (I do Smile )

Well Oksana, it could be worse. I have a client who named their puppy
"Gunther Wolfgang Amadeaus vom Banach" It was a family from S.C. with 12 children Shocked has to make you reconsider naming all of your puppies over just requiring the kennel name be used Exclamation

Oh BTW those ARE my feet being eaten Twisted Evil O-U-C-H!!! And I was wearing my sons socks......... Embarassed Busted!!! LOL

Tracy very cool of you to post all these pictures for everyone Wink

I learned the hard way, Julie..
when I was raising Rottweilers. Gave a pup to some very good friends, who SEEMED to possess a modicum of common sense. Now bear in mind this was a GERMAN-breed litter, outstanding Eiropean working and show lines (there's not the same kind of division between them in Rottweilers like we see in GSD's).
Anyway, I put an "L" at the fron of the app, and my kennel name at the back, and let them fill in the rest.
GOD HELP ME. They named her Lexi-Lu. I was livid, not to mention extremely embarassed for the poor dog. I asked them if they had the decency to get her some @%$#@ pink toe nail polish and poodle bows to go with.
Never again.
So yes, I select puppy names, with some flexibility. I usually make up a list of names, then let the buyers cvhoose from that list, and scratch them off the list in my computer so they don't go through the hassle of trying to use the same name someone else already picked, then have AKC reject or or stick a roman numeral on the end of it. Just too much confusion for me Smile
I found it is MUCH easier for me, and for my record-keeping and memory, to follow the German System, with each litter having a consistent letter pattern. So anyone who later contacts me and asks about a pup by name, I know immediately which breeding that was by the litter letter. Have to agree with the Germans on this one. Much easier Smile

Haha, Julie, you made me laugh because the first choice my husband came up with was Gunther Razz
My husband makes the name choice because I named the first dog and I want to be fair. He likes Wolfgang because it's German and then we can call our boy Wolf and Wolfy so everything is not so bad. Unless you completely hate the name so we can come up with something else, not a big deal really!!! Your kennel name is associated with it and I'm planning to go with my boy as far as I can in SAR so seriously if there is a problem I'm open to change!

I love love how my black puppy looks. I don't mind shreded hands and anckles (still have scars on them left by Yana) but I will be wearing big thick white socks 27/7 Smile

No, you are fine Oksana, Like I said it could be worse. Name now while you still can! I may go to the other system later again. I did for a few years name the pups, but I had a hard time thinking of names. Judy you must have a good name list in your pocket! I seem to go back and forth. Name a litter and then use a litter letter and like Judy's rotti folks ( dog help you) let people come up with their own from the letter.
So I will just say Gunther Wolfgang is already taken. LOL who would have ever thought two people could come up with that twice.he hee he!! But please no pink nail polish and poodle bows. I shutter at some of the names puppies are given though....right G~? I also had a Czech pup names Gryppy. It was appropriate but OMG ! REALLY????
Glad you think he's cute because I have scabs on my toes. You have fun with those puppy teeth when you get him. I am only chewed up to eight -nine weeks and then its your turn!

Razz You don't tell this to a new proud black shepherd owner to be Smile Can you imagine that we have light tan carpet downstairs and how it will look with two black dogs and 3 cats? Shocked We'll be replacing it after the new puppy gets a little older.
