DDR German Shepherds

Meeting place for breeders and owners of East German Shepherds to talk about their dogs, litters and any other related topic. There are plenty of other boards for WGR, CZ, Show and Am-line dogs; this is for at least 50 percent DDR workingline dogs only.

Granted, sometimes you cannot wait until the sun is at the optimal angle, and have to take pics on the spur of the moment, whenever you have help (especially if you live alone!). But, if you are able to plan in advance for the optimum time to take pics, here are a few pointers:
CLOUDY days are actually very good for taking pics, as you'll have less glare and fewer shadows, and do not have to concern yourself quite as much with angle of the sun!
On a SUNNY day, however, (I must repeat myself here) the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. So, if the back drop you've chosen is to the west, you'll want to try to take your photos mid-morning with the sun's angle about midway between straight up overhead, and the horizon behind you (unless of course you live up against Mt Everest or something). . I've found that for whatever scientific reason I cannot define, the sky usually seems much bluer early in the day, so I really would prefer morning photos for the most part, but my best backdrop here at the ranch is to the east, and that means afternoon photos for the most part. If your chosen backdrop is on the east side of your property, you'll need to wait until early - to - mid afternoon.
And again repeating myself, on a very cloudy day, any angle may work!
Earlier morning photos, for some reason, can work as well, but late afternoon photos get very yellow-orangey. This can be corrected somewhat with a good photo-editing program, but it is preferable to just take them earlier in the day.
